The 2017 Ninja 650 was a restyled, new-frame version of the 650 twin, aimed at riders moving up from the Ninja 300. Kawasaki cut around 19 kg with a new frame and swingarm and retuned the engine with 36 mm throttle bodies and a new airbox for stronger low and mid-range torque. A slipper-assist clutch, a horizontal back-link rear shock, a digital display with gear indicator and an optional ABS system came with it.
